Dr Christian Dimitriu
Dr Christian Dimitriu is a neurosurgeon specialising exclusively in spinal surgery. Former University Hospital Senior Registrar and Certified Military Practitioner, he currently practises exclusively in private practice in the Paris region.
With extensive university training and long-standing hospital and military experience, he treats all spinal conditions: herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, and vertebral fractures.
His philosophy: listen, explain, decide together. Conservative treatment is always prioritised. Surgery is only offered as a last resort or in cases of neurological emergency.
Discover His BackgroundSpinal Conditions
Lumbar Disc Herniation
Sciatica, cruralgia from nerve compression — a "burning" pain radiating down the leg.
Low Back Pain & Disc Disease
Chronic lower back pain linked to disc degeneration. The back feels "rusty" on waking.
Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
Neurogenic claudication, spinal canal narrowing. Reduced walking distance, relief leaning forward.
Cervical Disc Herniation
Disc protrusion compressing a cervical nerve. Arm pain, tingling in the fingers.
Cervical Myelopathy
Spinal cord compression from arthritis. "Stiff" legs, clumsy hands — a surgical emergency.
Spondylolisthesis
Vertebral slippage — like two stacked bricks shifting. Degenerative or stress fracture.
Cervicobrachial Neuralgia
The "sciatica of the arm" — pain radiating from the neck into shoulder and fingers.
Vertebral Fractures
Compression fractures from osteoporosis or trauma. Often under-diagnosed in the elderly.
Spinal Trauma
Vertebral fractures, dislocations, spinal cord injuries. Emergency management.

No. Dr Dimitriu systematically prioritises conservative treatment (medication, injections, physiotherapy). Surgery is only considered after failure of well-conducted medical treatment, or in cases of neurological emergency (paralysis, cauda equina syndrome).
Teleconsultation — First & Second Opinion
Located outside the Paris region? Dr Dimitriu is available for teleconsultation via Doctolib for a first opinion or a second medical opinion on your spinal condition. Ideal if you wish to consult a specialist without travelling or to obtain an additional opinion before making a treatment decision.
